"I’m extremely disappointed with my experience with Matyra Gieseler’s State Farm office. I originally requested and paid in full for a renters insurance policy back in August to cover my new apartment lease from 9/2025 to 9/2026. I received the declarations page, submitted it to my apartment, and moved in with the understanding that everything was taken care of. Fast forward to November, and I get a call telling me the person who handled my policy never finalized it, causing the policy to cancel. This was entirely their mistake. They then issued me a new policy starting 11/2025 to 11/2026, saying they could only do full-year policies now and that the new rate was higher due to updated pricing of $89. I paid the new amount and waited to be refunded for the original $80. Then a few days later, I receive a bill in the mail for $21 for “prorated coverage” from 9/2025 to December 2025—basically charging me to cover a period I thought I was already insured for, but wasn’t, because of their error. After more calls, they could only “backdate” coverage to November instead of December, reducing the charge to $14… but I still don’t understand why I’m paying anything for a mistake that wasn’t mine. My issues are pretty simple: 1. Why am I being penalized for their internal mistake? 2. There was zero meaningful compensation for the inconvenience and time wasted. 3. My policy dates no longer match my apartment lease, which defeats the whole purpose of starting the policy when I did. To be clear, the staff members I spoke with were very polite and professional, and I appreciate their efforts. But professionalism doesn’t fix the fact that this office mishandled my policy multiple times and left me paying extra and dealing with problems I shouldn’t have had in the first place."

My experience with homeowners insurance and Matyra's office was not a good one. Nobody was on the same page, things were getting passed off to different people because people were quitting or getting fired not sure so there was so much confusion everywhere. I didn't feel like the "center of the universe" as they put it. I ended up having to switch agents because I felt like her head was not all in it. I recommended several people for State farm which I will not be doing ever again. I hope everyone else's experience was better than mine."
